Our Research on Speech Development in the Brain
Our goal is to understand how the brain develops in children with typical and atypical
language. We are conducting two studies that will add to our knowledge on language and the brain and may help us to develop better interventions for children with speech and language disorders, including children with and without epilepsy.

Who Are We?
We are a team of interdisciplinary researchers and clinicians from neuroscience, neurology, neurosurgery, speech, language, and hearing sciences, audiology, speech pathology, and linguistics. Our team is led by Dr. Liberty Hamilton at the University of Texas at Austin.
Which areas of the brain respond to language?
This study may help us understand the relationship between language and epilepsy; by doing so, we can further the development and improvement of new and exciting assistive technologies for those with communication disorders or delays.
